RESEARCH

We set the goal of introducing new materials derived not from petroleum but instead from renewable feedstock, and with a more synergistic relationship and coexistence between products and the environment.

We aim to have near-term impact on the planet by introducing new materials that come from renewable sources, can be regenerated and are finally biodegradable at their end-of-life.

Algae Feedstock

Microalgae are among the most efficient organisms in terms of ability to store energy. The minimal needs for expensive nutrients and additional energy besides sunlight, make them an extremely promising system for the production of valuable compounds.

Discover Algae

Polyurethanes

At the beginning of our journey we developed a variety of algae-based polyurethane (PU) foams, elastomers, coatings, and adhesives, that meet commercial specifications while being biodegradable under a variety of environmental conditions.

Bio-Loop

A 100% “recyclable” plastic product usually contains less than 20% recycled material! and only 9% of potentially recyclable plastics are ever recycled. We took on the challenge to redesign the way in which we manage plastics at the end-of-life of a product.

Re-invent Recycling

Structural Materials

We are combining the different forms of our renewable polymers with natural fibers, to obtain composite materials with structural and insulating abilities. By targeting applications in the construction and furniture industry, we aim at reducing our carbon footprint.

Renewable Design

We bring in the same room scientists and designers to imagine what could be the future of the objects populating our daily life. We believe in the synergy between discovery and scope to develop new materials that serve a purpose and benefit the environment.

Create Green

Textile and Dyes

We study how to use algae to revolutionize one of the most polluting industries in our modern society: fashion. We aim to create a more sustainable textile industry, by developing fibers and dyes from microalgae to replace petroleum-based synthetic materials.
